You know. Sometimes you stumble across something and it makes you laugh but you’re kind of ashamed for laughing but you save it to your desktop anyway. And then you keep opening it over the next few days and each time you see it, you laugh anew, and feel shame anew. Bright and shiny on your face. And finally then you’re in a full-blown love affair with said funny thing… like, let’s say for example, a photo of a cat holding a Rubik’s cube with a funny caption.

And then at some point you realize the shame is just holding you down, and the only way to make it go away is to put the thing into the sunlight. Just put your shame into the light and let people judge if they must. So yeah. This is a cat holding a Rubik’s cube. I feel better now.

Drew Carey (a very good human being, not only for feeding us writers out of his own pocket during the strike, but for getting involved in issues like this), does a story for reason.tv about the problematic crackdown on hot dog vendors here in Los Angeles. At issue is the bacon Los Angelenos love wrapped around their dogs. The health department says non-tricked-out carts can’t store or wash the bacon properly. Their choice? Stop serving bacon, which loses them money as unlicensed make-shift vendors will swoop in and happily provide the beloved bacon, buy a fancy health-department-sanctioned cart, which is prohibitively expensive, or keep on serving bacon and risk going to jail and losing their cart.

This video is a few months old but the fight is ongoing.
